Elmbridge Hasler Race

On Sunday 26 September Elmbridge Canoe Club want you all to go and race in their annual Hasler Marathon. Elmbridge is one of our closest clubs and this will be the first race in our region that counts towards Hasler Final qualification for next season (2014). It’s a good race to cut your teeth on, so if you have never raced before make this your first!

If you are entered in the Hasler Final at Reading CC this will be good warm up. Note that if you do well and get promoted at Elmbridge your new divsion will not be applied at Reading.

Put your name on the board or email me if you would like to enter.

Race details are here: http://elmbridgecanoeclub.com/wordpress/?page_id=371

U23 and Junior Canoe Sprint World Championships

So the beginning of August, like the warm summer weather, might seem a long time ago now, however, over the last week or so the team at http://www.canoeniagara.ca  have been busy uploading all the races from the event held in Welland, Ontario. Every race was streamed live with the promise of being able to "watch again".

Matt Welch and K2 partner Matt Robinson (Brunel) can be seen winning their final http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cjZLyR7LeQ

Jack Childerstone with Will Bird (WOR) can be seen storming so close to victory in their final

Sprint World Championships Success

Wey Paddlers produced excellent results at the Sprint World Championships in Duisburg, Germany over the past few days.   Anne Dickens won a Silver Medal in the TA K1 category.  Mind you, Anne had a support crew to rival the Hungarians - watch this clip

Liam Heath with Jonny Schofield also won a Silver in the K2 200 improving on their Bronze in the Olympics.

Rachel finished 5th in the K1 500 - again a one place improvement on her Olympic Games position and 12th in the K1 200.

There is a write-up on the BBC website here.

Team GB supporters who travelled to Duisburg also did a magnificent job (even if I say so myself!)
