Wey Marathon Postponed
Reluctantly we have been forced to postpone tomorrow's event because river conditions won't have improved in time for the race.
We are intending to run the race next Sunday, the 4th of May subject to confirmation from the river authority on Monday.
The programme will be exactly the same as the published programme and all entries already received (in excess of 150 boats) will be entered for next week.
Anyone who cannot make the race will receive a refund.
Wey Marathon Tomorrow
A decision will be made later this afternoon on running the Wey Marathon tomorrow with the current river conditions. Please check back here.

DW results
Here are the results of the DW for Wey Kayak Club members. Well done everyone (participants, coaches and especially support crews who are always the unsung heros!)

Half way through the DW
It's 11pm on Saturday 19th April and the "straight through" DW competitors are about half way through their ordeal.
Wey crews are doing well and making steady progress.
Special shouts for Jono Dennis (boat 502) who changed partner only a week ago. He is now paddling with Nicholas Cotton from Richmond CC.
...and for Charlie and Bill (boat 390) who are making brilliant progress in an open canoe (approx same times as K2 boats) They also have a tracker so you can see where they are: http://maps.opentracking.co. uk/dwrace14.cfm?n=390
Shane Houghting (boat 406) and Graham Holmes (Southampton CC) are steaming along having had a good lie in this morning (started at 1.43pm).
Nathan and Paul (boat 367) are looking strong too. They are just coming into Henley.

Nathan & Paul's DW Challenge
The Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race is this weekend (see website for details of this incredible challenge)
Members Nathan and Paul are paddling straight through. They have a tracker device for all those interested parties who would like to know their whereabouts during the event. Any moral support greatly appreciated. Their boat number is 367.

April Regatta Results
The April Regatta Results are available - quite a few promotions for WEY paddlers!
Attention! May Regatta
The May Regatta is rapidly approaching hot on the heels of the April Regatta. The deadline for entries to me is this weekend, yes over Easter, so the best time to send them is now otherwise you will have to spare a moment between gorging on those Easter Eggs on Sunday at the latest.
The regatta on 10 and 11 May will include the Masters (Vets) National Championships for over 34, 44, 54 and 64 year age bands. There will also be lightning, mini-K2 and rocket K4 races for those who are a little younger. What else? There will be a long distance C1 race over 2.5 or 5km provided enough diggers pre-enter.
I will send out an email with the schedule of races shortly. Get in contact if you do not receive this.

Saturday 12th April 13:00 session is CANCELLED
The 13:00 sessions for juniors and seniors this Saturday afternoon are cancelled. Apologies but with a regatta at Nottingham and holidays we have too few coaches available to cover this session. It will be back to normal on the 19th April.
Wednesday 9 April 2014
The Younger Juniors and Rovers will be on the water at 18:00 on Thursdays
Now that the clocks have changed it is time to get back on the water on Thursday evenings.
For the juniors we have recently started running 2000m time trials on Saturdays so that everyone can see their own progress, these will be run once a month. We are also going to use this to set an achievement level to join the Thursday evening session. Everyone who has achieved less than 14minutes on this time trial course is invited to join the Junior session at 18:00 on Thursdays. Those who are close to this (under 15 mins) are welcome to join the session if they organise a K2 partner in advance.
Please be ready with a boat fitted out for a 18:00 start.

42nd Wey Marathon (Hasler Series)
Please see the website for details of the 2014 Wey Marathon: http://www.weykayak.co.uk/Marathon_Frame.html
The Lightning Class (children) course is 3 miles long, and the shortest adult course is about 4 miles long (into town and back plus a little bit - see map) with no portages, so there's no excuse not to give it a go. A fun day for everyone. There will be refreshments (barbeque and the bar will be open), and hopefully the sun will shine for us.
Email weymarathon(at)weykayak.co.uk or talk to a coach at the club for more information. An entry form is available on the website.
