Saturday 13:00 Junior Sessions During the Summer Holidays

During the school holidays we are not going to run the Saturday 13:00 session for juniors, there will be space for anyone who usually paddles in the afternoon to join the Saturday morning session at 10am. This is to ensure we always have sufficient coaches to run safe and enjoyable sessions. We intend to restart in September, we will put a note on the website when the time comes.

Any questions to Dave Martyn or Mick Luck.

GWC 400 Club Draw July

The GWC 400 Club draw for July 2014 was made on 7 July by a Councilor Angela Gunning. The monthly draw winning ticket for £50 was No. 35.

We would encourage all members and friends of the GWC clubs to join the GWC 400 Club.  With the granting of the planning permission for the new extensions and with it, the purchase of the total grass area by the Centre on a very long lease,  we are into a new phase of fund raising.

All profits from the 400 Club go to paying off the current Guildford Waterside Centre's loans and fund raising for the new developments at the Centre.  It is anticipated that the work on the Main Hall extension will start in September and the New Kayak Shed in late October.

Full details on how to join can be  found on the Wey Kayak Club website www.weykayak.co.uk. They are also attached here.

Each 'ticket' cost just £2.00 a month and can be paid for by monthly Standing Order if more convenient.

Royal Sprint Regatta 12th July - a great first event for junior paddlers

All – Royal canoe club in Teddington is running a regatta for juniors  on the 12th July between 12:00 and about 16:00. This would be a great event to attend if you have never been to a race before as it is local, only for juniors and will be a sociable event.

Full details can be found here.

http://www.royalcanoeclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Royal-Junior-Sprint-Regatta-Race-Details-2014.pdf

We need to be at Royal by 10:30 so will meet at Wey at 9:30. If necessary the club trailer will be taken to carry enough boats for everyone.

Any junior is welcome however fast or slow. If you have never raced before talk to a coach or just sign up for the event and see what happens – you have nothing to lose!

Please sign up on the notice board at the club or email Dave Martyn on transatlanticmover@hotmail.com to say you want to attend.
