2) find/beg/borrow/buy a number board before you go
3) take your BCU membership card of you have one (to save £5)
4) don't forget paddles
5) if you don't already have a lift or a lift for a kayak, sort one out now! Calum may have space (rovers@weykayak.co.uk)

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!!

Please could all club members make a big effort to get to the Hasler regional race which is being hosted by Tonbridge this Sunday. This event has a great history and Wey have a good record in the event.

Four clubs from this region go forward to compete at the Hasler final in October. Wey is currently sitting in third place on the Hasler London and South East ranking table with 43 points. However Royal and Tonbridge are snapping at our heels with 39 and 41 points respectively.

To ensure that the club qualifies for the final we need as many paddlers as possible to compete at this weekend’s event. This is a great race for less experienced paddlers as the event is held on a river which is very similar to the Wey.

Mike Childerstone will be taking entries for the event. If you have not raced before please speak to your coach or others at the club and they can provide further information. We anticipate that the club trailer will be taken across to Tonbridge so club boats can be transported to the event. Please do make every effort to help Wey make the final – Thanks Wey Kayak Club Committee’

Barbecue on Thursday evening

Thursday 14th August will be a normal club night (come out for a paddle) PLUS a barbecue!  Please come along at 7.30pm ish

You can just turn up, but if you let Michele know you're coming (social_sec@weykayak.co.uk), she'll make sure there are enough burgers and salads available for everyone.

Volunteers to help always appreciated.

Can you help out in the kitchen?

Can you help out in the kitchen? Please ask Mum and Dad too.

During August, September and into October, most of the regular helpers in the kitchen are away.  Can you spare an hour or two to help out?  Thursdays 6.30pm and Saturdays 11.30 to 13.30 pm.  Please put your name up on the board at the club, or drop an email to Jim - chairman@weykayak.co.uk

Thanks!

GWC 400 Club Draw

The GWC 400 Club draw for August 2014 was made on 7 August by a Jackie Payne the MSTG Office Manager. The monthly draw winning ticket for £50 was No.172 .

We would encourage all members and friends of the GWC clubs to join the GWC 400 Club.  With the granting of the planning permission for the new extensions and with it, the purchase of the total grass area by the Centre on a very long lease,  we are into a new phase of fund raising.

All profits from the 400 Club go to paying off the current Guildford Waterside Centre's loans and fund raising for the new developments at the Centre.  It is anticipated that the work on the Main Hall extension will start early in October and the New Kayak Shed in late October.

Full details on how to join can be  found on the Wey Kayak Club website www.weykayak.co.uk. They are also attached here.

Each 'ticket' cost just £2.00 a month and can be paid for by monthly Standing Order if more convenient
